Vamana Therapy
Ayurvedic Detoxification
What is Vamana Therapy?
There are 5 key therapies in ayurveda (hence, Pancha karma) - Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Basti & Rakhtmokshana. Vamana is the ancient Ayurvedic detoxification process.
It is a therapeutic emesis (medicated vomiting) procedure that eliminates toxins (Ama) and excess Kapha dosha from the body. This controlled cleansing method is designed to remove deep-seated impurities, restore balance, and rejuvenate overall health.
Duration of the Treatment
Vamana therapy is typically conducted over 5 to 7 days, depending on an individual’s condition and health requirements.
The process includes:
- Purvakarma (Pre-treatment): Preparatory procedures such as internal and external oleation (Snehana) and sudation therapy (Swedana).
- Pradhanakarma (Main treatment): Inducing controlled vomiting using specific Ayurvedic herbs.
- Paschatkarma (Post-treatment): A recovery phase with a specialized diet and lifestyle guidelines to restore digestion and strength.
