Pushya Nakshatra
What is it?
The 8th of the 27 nakshatras, the star groups the Moon passes through, is Pushya Nakshatra. Pushya is three stars in Karka (Cancer), named from pushti, meaning nourishment.
When?
Once a month, when the Moon is in Pushya, about 13 days a year. Ideally to be taken in the morning, otherwise on an empty stomach, an hour after food.
Why Pushya?
Ayurveda holds that on Pushya the body absorbs nourishment best. A Rasayana given on this day is taken in most fully.
How?
A few drops, licked, measured to the child's age. For children from infancy up to 16 years, given month after month.
